Found in the remainder shelves at the Metropolitan Museum of Art shop, this book was purchased for $1.00 in 1989. Portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe, published in 1978, has 33 black and white photos of O'Keeffe taken by Alfred Stieglitz beginning in 1918.
____Inspired by the artistic life and vision of Georgia O'Keeffe since childhood, the intimacy of the photos, her facial expressions, her hands, the feel of the satiny paper, the writing by O'Keeffe, and the everythingness of this book, all conspired to help me bring this damaged book alive again.
____Many of the originally intended forms and photos remain hidden- beneath my marking and painting. I altered this into a book of carved, flat, and collaged painted pages as an homage to Georgia O’Keefe.
